We will drive through Quito's colonial city. We will visit the Legislative Palace, Independence Square (Plaza Grande) and the Government Palace. We will also visit the magnificent churches of Compañía and San Francisco. Finally, we will drive up to a hill for a panoramic view of Quito and surrounding mountains.

Quito City Tour + Equatorial Line

After a quick city tour of Quito, we will drive to the Middle of the World monument, geographically located at 0 degrees 0 minutes 0 seconds. We will visit the museum there and afterwards walk around the authentic replica of a Spanish Colonial town. Finally, we will drive up to a viewpoint where we can observe the crater of the extinct Pululahua volcano-the only inhabited crater in the world.

City tour + Teleferico
DURATION 6 HOURS, DEPARTURE DAILY

After the Quito city tour, visiting its historical centre, admiring ancient buildings, churches and squares, we will go to the Teleferico. This is one of the best ways to enjoy our superb setting with views of beautiful valleys, snow-capped mountains and the capital Quito. From a point at more than 4000 m. you will enjoy magnificent views, as well as visiting the amusement park with its various attractions or eating delicious fondue.

Otavalo Market Tour (and Indian Villages)
DURATION 1 DAY, DEPARTURE SATURDAYS

Traveling north of Quito, we will cross the equator line and visit the small town of Cayambe. The spot is marked by a monument that offers a great photo opportunity and is sometimes preferable to touristy "Mitad del Mundo". En route to Otavalo, which is located in the valley between two extinct volcanoes, we will admire rich agricultural lands with magnificent flowers, particularly roses, grown here for florists around the world. Otavalo is a large craft market offering wonderful weavings, rugs, bags and other real masterpieces made by indigenous people at competitive prices. Transactions are relaxed, with the tourists always getting a bargain. After visiting the Otavalo market we take you to a nice restaurant for lunch. After lunch we continue our trip to the village of Cotacachi, which is famous for its traditional handcrafted leather goods.

Tulipe Trekking (4 hours walking)
DURATION 8 HOURS, DEPARTURE DAILY

We head northwest out of Quito, crossing the Equator (Middle of the World monument), and make a stop at the viewpoint of Pululahua, an extinct volcano. We visit the archaeological site of Gualea and arrive at Tulipe Private Reserve. This is a special forest located on the equator between 900 to 1600 meters above sea level. Technically called Andean Humid Forest, it’s more commonly known as Cloud Forest. Hot equatorial air from the Pacific ocean hits the steeps slopes of the Andes, rises up and bathes the mountains with moisture and clouds. Because of this unique climate combination the forest houses plants and animals unknown in other parts of the world.

Mindo Tour (optional tour to Bellavista)

Mindo is renowned as the best birdwatching site in South America. It is home to more than 400 bird species.sThanks to the Andes and the equatorial line our small but diverse country has almost all types of climate, from permafrost to equatorial, creating fascinating ecosystems. Ecuador, covering just 0,02% of the Earth’s surface, supports about 10% of all the planet’s bird species. Every 200 meter drop in altitude means a change in bird species. Only 80 km from Quito, yet deep in the heart of the Cloud Forest, where clouds and trees blend in a mystery and magic of nature, you can hope to see the velvet-purple coronet hummingbird, the yellow-collared chlorophonia, the orange-breasted fruit eater and the endangered long-wattled umbrella bird, to name just a few. During the tour we will also visit the butterfly farm or take a stroll to the beautiful waterfalls.

Hot Springs of Papallacta
DURATION 8 HOURS, DEPARTURE DAILY

About 60 km from Quito is the quiet highland town of Papallacta located close to the volcano Antisana the source of excellent hot springs. The highly ferrous pools are reputed to relieve numerous ailments from kidney trouble to ganglions. Here you can find a perfect complex complete with relaxing spa, swimming pool, restaurants, accommodation, and interpretation center. There are also good walking opportunities in the Termas’ extensive grounds and trails in the paramo or highlands, part of the Antisana Ecological Reserve.
