Cajas National Park has 28 000 hectares, 4 bioregions which include more than 230 lagoons. It is a lake complex that is very important for the city as it represents a reliable water supply for it. There are also significant archaeological places that were built by Pre-Inca communities.

Itinerary

Departure from Cuenca toward the National Park and Reserve of Cajas where you will find more than 200 lagoons.

During the excursion, you will arrive to the continental division of waters; have a short walk through the primary forest in which you will observe the amazing variety of fauna and flora of the region.

This place is one of the most extraordinary places inside the Ecuadorian mountains. It is a complex of more than 230 lakes, where it is possible to appreciate at great length the beauty of the Paramo landscapes. There is an endless number of activities that can be done within the park limits. There are self guided paths to the Toreadora, Cucheros and Illincocha lakes and are easily accessible to spend a day in the nature. It is also possible to fish, bird watch and camp.
